The state-of-the art, multi-component meeting and conference offerings found at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP) helped to make a success of the first-ever Regional Showcase staged at the Fort May 14th.

Over 300 participants attended various exhibits, conferences and workshops held throughout the day. To facilitate all presentations, the Regional Showcase made full use of FWHP's multi-room exhibit centres featuring high-speed Internet services and audio-visual systems.

The Fort's Visitor Centre was humming with a variety of exhibits collectively offered by Northern Development and Mines, Environment, Natural Resources, Justice, Ontario Shared Services and several other ministries.

Several FWHP heritage structures with contemporary interior service capabilities also served as host venues. Canot du Nord (aka North Canoe Shed) accommodated a video conference for the Information Technology Executive Leadership Council (ITELC).

Other heritage structures such as the Great Hall, East House and the Bell House featured workshops on a variety of topics including Workplace Communications, Blackberry Training, Customer Relation Management, Effective Team Work, Accessibility Awareness, Project Management 101 and Power of Learning.

The Regional Showcase provided an opportunity for individuals to participate in learning as well as to experience various applications and initiatives from various different ministries that relate to the government's agenda.

Consensus among the participants was extremely positive for both the Showcase presentations and FWHP as host venue, providing potential impetus for the Regional Showcase to become an annual event.
