A Note to Our Visitors

Effective October 30, the Broadway Avenue entrance will be closed for the winter until May 1, 2024. Please use the King Road entrance during this time.


Explore Fort William

Travel back in time to 1815 and discover Fort William. This is the inland headquarters of the North West Company, the world's largest fur trading enterprise with posts stretching across North America. This is a place where cultures meet, and relationships are forged between Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous newcomers. Come experience this unique place and time in history through the eyes of peoples past who lived and worked around Fort William!

Guided Tours (Friday, March 1 through Friday, May 17, 2024)

Enjoy a guided tour of Fort William led by one of its inhabitants. Guided tours last approximately 1.5 hours. Self-guided tours are not available at this time. 

Admission: $13 per person (HST included), Children 5 & under are free

  • Fort William Historical Park accepts the Personal Attendant for Leisure (PAL) Card. The PAL Card provides free admission to a support person accompanying the person identified on the card. Please present your PAL card prior to making your ticket purchase.
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Indigenous Persons from Canada. 
  • Fort William Historical Park offers free admission for Canadian military personnel and veterans. Please present your CF1 or NDI 75 card when purchasing tickets.

 

Campground

The campground is closed for the season, reopening May 17, 2024. The campground offers serviced and non-serviced campsites and RV rentals. Visit RV & Tent Campground for more information about our campground and available amenities.

The Cantine Restaurant is closed for the season, reopening May 18, 2024.

Facility Rentals

Facility rentals for weddings, conferences and meetings, and other private functions are currently available.


Pets

Pets are welcome at Fort William Historical Park; however, we ask that you adhere to the following when your pet is on our property:

  • Pets are allowed at the campground and historic site but must be kept on a leash.
  • Pets are not permitted inside the Cantine Restaurant, Gift Shop, McGillivray’s Landing, or the Café Kam.
  • There is outdoor, pet-friendly seating available at the Cantine Restaurant.
  • Please clean-up immediately after your pet using a disposable bag and place it in an outdoor waste receptacle.
  • Service animals are allowed in all places to which the public is admitted.
