Accompanied by Assistant Deputy Minister Gary Commeford, Deputy Minister Howell got a brief tour of the Fort, which began with a sleigh ride and visits to a variety of heritage buildings and areas, including the Native Encampment, the new Learning Wigwam, Historic Kitchen, Canoe Shed and the Farm.

During visits to the Cantine, the Fort's on-site food service outlet, and the Bell House, a building equipped for overnight stays, the Deputy was able see pro-active efforts being undertaken by the Fort to mitigate damage to the modern interior infrastructure.

Mr. Howell and Mr. Commeford also had opportunity to share refreshments with Fort staff in the Great Hall before being presented with brass heritage lanterns by General Manager Sergio Buonocore.
