Planning a convention, meeting, or reception or looking for a unique setting for a corporate retreat, press conference, product launch, or trade show?

visitorcentre.pngFort William Historical Park offers world-class meeting and convention facilities complete with multi-media services for large groups or intimate gatherings. McGillivray's Landing in our Visitor Centre has state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and holds up to 500 people, making it ideal for large conferences. The room's natural décor is highlighted by full windows on three sides of the room that offer views of our pristine wilderness surroundings. McGillivray's Landing also has the flexibility to be divided into breakout rooms for smaller groups. The walls of the breakout rooms are full height and sound proofed to ensure maximum privacy and each breakout room is equipped with its own sound system.

Your group can take a break from the proceedings and refresh themselves by wandering outside onto our deck. This impressive architectural structure wraps around half of the Visitor Centre and is tiered to span a picturesque marsh. The deck also provides a sweeping view the Kaministiquia River. Visitors can sit and enjoy the breathtaking vistas or follow the deck onto our scenic trail walk that connects to our heritage site.

The Visitor Centre also has a large beautifully-designed lobby featuring a monumental mural commemorating Fort William's fur trade history. "Return to the Source/Kee-Way-Win" was constructed by four local artists and measures 6.6 metres high and 14.3 metres wide. The mural's harmonious combination of stained glass, wood carving, bas relief, and painted surfaces helps creates a grand entryway that is the perfect setting for hosting trade shows and press conferences. The exterior of the Visitor Centre, with its façade of cedar, stone, and other natural materials, also provides a dramatic backdrop for displays and exhibits.

The North West Company Council Room is a favourite choice for executives and professionals from all spectrums who are ready to get down to business. The Council Room has integrated high tech audio-visual capabilities including big screen projection, plasma screen, high speed broad band Internet, LCD projector, and teleconferencing. This elegant meeting venue is lined with portraits of the men who built the North American fur trade and features comfortable leather chairs surrounding an impressive conference table. The table is made of oak with black walnut inlay and is complemented by matching cabinets housing the Council Room's state-of-the-art technology. The North West Company Council Room offers a premier conference facility and complete catering to meet the needs of your organization.

In addition to our Visitor Centre and Council Room facilities, the Fort William Historical Park has a multitude of venue choices available on our heritage site. With its more than 40 historic buildings, the Fort offers almost as many options to host your next event. Entertain your guests in the stately Canot du Nord. If you would like to stage a musical performance, entertainment show, or have a picnic in the open air, the grandeur of our Main Square provides the ideal venue. The square provides a majestic view of the historic buildings that encircle it and can hold up to 4,000 people.

The Bell House and East House are ideal locations for hosting retreats and meetings. These charming facilities face the main square and recall the drama of past times. Groups also have the option of staying overnight in these heritage buildings which were used as summer residences by Northwest Company clerks and interpreters. Both structures have bunk beds in two separate sections to accommodate groups requiring a male and female split as well as male/female showers, washrooms, and common rooms. The Bell House also has a communal kitchen, tables, and benches to provide full meal preparation and dining facilities. In addition, the main floors of the Bell House and East House have barrier free accessibility including one sleeping room.
