Engaging Group Tours

arriving_at_the_wharf.pngEnjoy an interactive tour through the historic site led by one of our friendly and knowledgeable costumed characters. Visit the Native Encampment, Trades Square, and other fascinating areas. Sample some historic treats and learn about the exciting fur trade era in Canada.

Beaver Club Dinners

Our Beaver Club hosts can add a novel touch to your dinner or banquet.  A North West Company partner will serve as host while his retinue of fellow fur traders will regale seated guests with amusing and enlightening tales from Canada's past. Everyone can join in the lively traditional Beaver Club Toasts while fiddlers and other musicians add to the historical ambience.

Voyageur Feasts

Roll up your sleeves and join in the fun with characters from the Northwest Company! Enjoy a historic style meal, clap your hands to the period music and kick up your heels during a voyageur "paddle" dance.

Shuttle Bus Service

Our shuttle bus service can take care of your group with complementary pick-up and drop-off service at your hotel, airport and the Fort itself.

Photo Shoot

Fort William offers fantastic photographic opportunities, with colourful and varied backdrops found throughout the heritage site, from the rustic elegance of the Great Hall to the pastoral quietude of the Farm area.  Add to that the beauty of the Kaministiquia River and breathtaking wilderness scenery and you have an endless array of photographic options.

Gifts

Your visit at Fort William Historical Park will be all the more memorable when taking home a unique, handcrafted gift. Tin lanterns and cups, voyageur sashes and mini-paddles are just a few of the many gifts we offer. Check out our Trading Post by clicking here.*

Aboriginal Experience: Learning Wigwam

Experience the fascinating teachings and traditions of First Nation peoples in our expansive Learning Wigwam, specifically designed for group visits and overnight stays. Listen to stories and songs while sampling bannock and Labrador tea. Participate in a smudge ceremony or try your hand at making a period craft.

Voyageur Games

Compete in fun-filled, team events featuring multiple stations and challenges, all with a historical theme.  Competitions include relay races, canoe races, axe throwing and other unique and lively team building activities.

GeoCaching

GeoCaching is a high-tech treasure hunt using GPS (Global Positioning System) technology to discover hidden caches of cultural and historical information.

Heritage Craft Workshops

Spend and afternoon or full day with the Fort's talented and knowledgeable artisans, learn heritage craft techniques to "make and take" a functional and decorative craft item. Workshops include weather vanes, tin lanterns, moccasins and many more.

Entertainers

Our colourful characters will be happy to entertain your group with amusing and informative tales from Canada's past and musical instrumental performances of authentic pieces from a by-gone era.

Become a Voyageur Brigade

During the summer season, visitors can form their own voyageur brigade and paddle down the Kaministiquia River on a scenic half hour trip - just like a real voyageur.

Master the traditional voyageur salute and sing voyageur songs as your canoe glides down the Kaministiquia River. Our experienced guides will regale your group about the life of the voyageur, the workhorse of the fur trade, while you take in the impressive view of the Fort's massive wharf and palisade.  Along the way, you might spot osprey, beaver, eagles, deer, or even a bear, moose or deer!
